The U.S. House of Representatives voted Tuesday to repeal FCC regulation “Protecting the Privacy of Customers of Broadband and Other Telecommunication Services” that was signed into law by the Obama Administration in December 2016. The regulation was put in place to help safeguard consumers from their ISPs. Without this legislation in place, larger internet providers like AT&T and Verizon will be able to sell your information without your consent. Your social security number, usage data, browsing history and location data are all available for sale to marketers or other companies that collect personal data.
